For only $8.00

There are many things in life to be stressed over. One of them is not a part-time, $8.00 per-hour job where you stand on your feet for an undetermined amount of hours. What do I do? Unless you've been living under a rock for all this time, I work at Godiva Chocolatiers. Some people think this is a glamorous job because I work in a chocolate shop. Far..from..it. It is a thankless job with very little respect among the workers (and sometimes the customers). I used to work at the one in Rockefeller Center, but after the holidays ended, the hours dropped. Mainly my hours dropped out of sight. I was then transferred to the one in Kings Plaza (yes, there's one there....) in early March. The manager is wound up tighter than a clock, the assistant manager is a total ass, and the workers pick and chose when to be friends and when to talk behind each other's backs. There are very few trustworthy people there. Me, I chose to stay out of everything. If I hear about a conflict, I'll listen, but I won't give my opinion. I don't need my words to come back and haunt me. I personally trust only 2 people there and they're both over the age of 30.

I truly hate it there. Since I was hired, I've been looking for a new job. Today however, I may be forced to do so. One of the workers, Neesa, and I were closing up. She was counting the register I was working on and it came up very short....$300+ short. I've never seen her so panicked in my life. She called up the assistant manager (the manager is out for an undetermined amount of time due to possible hypertension...thanks to work) to figure out what to do. Long story short, she and I may either be fired, suspended or just have cut hours. That man yelled at poor Nessa for a total of 30 mins in 3 different calls. She got so agitated that she started to cry. On top of that she's 3 months pregnant so the added stress of him accusing us of stealing money is not good to neither her nor her unborn child. She doesn't have much to worry about because she works full-time at Macy's. Me on the other hand, this is my only source of income. This assistant manager is very disrespectful and I already see him playing favorites. There is a tentative schedule for next week and only 1 of the girls I work with has almost all the hours, where everyone else has 2 days of hours. If I get cut for ANY reason, and I don't care if its because "there are not enough hours to go around" I WILL call the district manager to file an official complaint against him. We were fine till his ass got there. The minute he comes (and he's only been with us for about 2-3 weeks), chaos ensues. I HATE RETAIL!!
